Meaning over Money
With 280+ episodes and a 5.0-star rating on Apple Podcasts, we provide concise, straight-to-the-point, short-form episodes centered around money...except it's not really about money.
In each episode, host Travis Shelton dives into cultural trends, current events, and behavioral nuances revolving around work and money. We often dive into topics such as investing, budgeting, relationships, behavioral science, careers, generosity, and much more. Are you ready to redefine the role work and money play in your life? More importantly, are you ready to be challenged toward a more meaningful life?
Most episodes are 10-20 minutes, conducted solo by host Travis Shelton, but we also bring in special guests who we believe can add value to our audience.
Listen along and share with a friend. Our followers aren’t shy about giving us feedback, so send us an e-mail or DM to ask questions, suggest topics, or challenge Travis’s perspective!

199 - Fun vs. Fulfillment: The Importance of Meaningful Work
"Is it ok to enjoy your work, but not find meaning in it?" This is a question we've been asked many times. We think it's awesome if your work is enjoyable....what a gift! However, we don't think that's enough. Eventually, even the most fun work will feel empty if it doesn't provide meaning and purpose. To illustrate this principle, we use the Coke vs. Pepsi challenge.

198 - One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Treasure
We live in a culture that tells us what we should buy, consume, and desire. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton uses the tale of two computers to illustrate the importance of having self-awareness of what truly adds value to our lives. What's valuable to one person may not be for another. If we're honest with ourselves and align our values with our behavior, we have a chance to come out on top.

In today's episode, host Travis Shelton talks about the good old days and why every season of life could/should be fondly looked back on as the good old days. We each have the choice to create our dream life, in every season. It's an odd concept, and difficult to get right, but one worth pursuing.

194 - Avoiding Self-Inflicted Wounds on Your Financial Journey
We each make thousands of decisions per week. Some are big, some are small. In our journey, we tend to make a handful of negative financial decisions we refer to as self-inflicted wounds. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discussed this topic and provides some guidance on how to avoid self-inflicted wounds in your journey.

193 - From Altima to Ferrari: The Importance of Choosing the Right Real Estate Agent
Real estate is one of a handful of industries where the price is what it is. It can vary from market to market, but there's usually "the price." If that's the case, we consumers have a tremendous decision to make about who we will do business with. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses his car dealership metaphor, why the answer is so simple, and how so many people make the wrong choice.

187 - Done Is Better Than Perfect
The desire for perfection is oftentimes our biggest enemy. In today's (fully raw and unedited) episode, we discuss the risk, ramifications, tragedy, and opportunity cost of the pursuit of perfection. The idea that done is better than perfect is the only reason this podcast exists. If it were up to host Travis Shelton and his perfectionist ways, we'd still be thinking about maybe someday starting a podcast. Embrace "done" and share your gifts with the world. Don't let perfectionism rob us of your impact.

Do you see yourself as a creative person? Many people don't. However, creativity comes in many forms. Some people create art, and others content. Some people create businesses, and others something entirely different. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton explains how each person has something to offer the world and the importance of pushing it into the world. When we do, we benefit.....and many others do as well. When we don't, everyone is robbed. What will you create today?

183 - Why Do We Celebrate Selfish Hoarding?
In our opinion, one of the trends we dislike the most in the personal finance space is the celebration and encouragement of selfish hoarding. By selfish hoarding, we are referring to the people who save a very high percentage of their income. Saving in and of itself certainly isn't bad, but it comes at a cost: generosity and enjoyment. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses the short-term and long-term ramifications of this shifting culture. We'd love to know what you think!

182 - Why We Don't Support Our Own: Jealousy in Small Business
In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses a phenomenon he's seeing more and more these days. Many small business owners are carving their niche and finding success, while at the same time not always getting support from the people they'd expect to support them most. This is an interesting dynamic, and one worth discussing. We think it comes down to one key thing: jealousy. Some of it is conscious jealousy, while some may also be more subconscious. Small business owners, what are you experiencing in your own life and business?

181 - Focus On The Journey, Not The Destination
When we have goals, whether they are financial, fitness, spiritual, career, or something else, we focus on the outcome......the destination. Yes, the destination is important. However, we believe the journey is even more important than the destination. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses why the journey is so important and how we often rob ourselves of something important by dwelling on the outcome.
