108 - Investing: The Choice Between Taxes and Freedom
Whenever we decide to invest, of course we need to decide what to invest in. This is obvious, and much discussed. Mutual funds, individual stocks, ETFs, bonds, REITS......so many choices. However, there's one major decision that often gets overlooked: where to invest it. What type of account should our investments live in? Conventional wisdom says to jam everything humanly possible into a 401(k) to minimize our annual tax bill. However, there's more to the story. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses some of the considerations we need to think about when deciding where to invest. When we invest to minimize taxes, it can cost us some of our freedom. We'll discuss how to give this a thoughtful approach, look at it from different angles, and hopefully equip you to make the best decision for your journey.
